As an essential element of any Powerwall system, the Tesla Backup Gateway 2.1 manages energy metering, communication, and automatic switchover to backup power during a grid failure. Installed directly downstream of the main distribution board, it regulates the entire energy flow.
This Gateway is compatible with both single-phase and three-phase grids. It measures consumption and generation on each phase, optimizing the charging and discharging cycles of the Powerwall. All communication with the Tesla app and cloud platform is routed through this unit.
